PERSIA BAND - “Sarzamine Man” Ben Iran Music 2008 (1386) More than a year ago a new trio, Aria, Kian and Kayvan calling themselves PERSIA, contacted me and asked for my opinion about their music. A year later one of the members of the band, namely Kian released a solo album titled 'Marde Baarooni'. And now the band has finally released its debut album “Sarzamine Man” featuring 8 songs, on the independent label Ben Iran Music. While the album doesn't say who is responsible for the lyrics, for the compositions and arrangements stands Kayvan Paymani. One of the suggestions I had about the album was to place this particular song in the lead!
Precisely due to its style and commercial potential, which distinctively differed from the rest of the songs presented back then. 'To Ro Daashtan' is a POWER POP/Electro-BANDARI song with the 80's flow and somewhat reminding of Shahram Masoumian's debut songs. An energetic opener!
'Koochehaa' is a ballad with a melancholic ambience and flow. There is a Kourosh Yaghmaei-an feeling to this song which is pleasant. Another commercially oriented track is 'Bandar Bandaroon', even this one with a Yaghmaei twist to it, in particular the vocals! Unfortunately the song is too minimalistic and psychedelic too make it a HIT on the dancefloors! Next song is a song which could have been a good electro POP fare with that domestic sound but is left far too underdeveloped and raw to work! 'Bi To' sounds more like a DEMO!

Back to the POWER POP style, this time with a pinch of Electro-FOLK! 'Gol Banoo' smells the 80's with all its instrumentation, for better and worse! Installation Latex Windows Xp here. The title-track 'Sarzamine Man' opens with a mournful rhythm and ambience, and as expected develops into a semi-EPIC piece as nationalistic songs often tend to do! This was the general overtone of the first songs I got to hear by the band! Drivers Camara Veo Stingray. Something which has come to be toned down for the commercial final product! 'Midooni' is just like similar tracks on the album inspired heavily by the 80's and suffers from underdevelopment!
And to put a dot to this story, comes another Yaghmaei-an ballad with a GITANO guitar called 'Ghaayeghe Khiaali'. A rather pleasant outro!
